Looked at your album...looks like your 2-door is coming along great! Now that it's had a good shower, what's the Chebby motor going into?

Yesterday 09:20 PM LostHope sad to say i could never get the 292 running right and very sad to say itll be going in my 54 i just want it to drive again... No need to apologize to me! I'm running a Corvette 350/Muncie 4-gear in my Victoria project. I used mounts from Jamco and it has been a very smooth swap so far. Take a look at my build thread if you'd be interested. An automatic would have made the swap a whole bunch easier, but I really wanted a 4-speed in this car. Let's see more photos of your project. If you run into trouble posting photos to the social group, see Scott's (Skoh73) thread on how it's done. I'll bump it up for you. Merry Christmas...and keep up the good work!
sorry i dont have the hood hinges...wish i had a box full of them tho how did the jamco motor mounts work out thats who im gonna buy mine from? im not a fab guy and this is the first time putting a diffrent motor in a diffrent car did the mounts come with paper work where to weld them in or do i got to mock everything up?? tim
I'm lookin for the stainless trim around the grill opening. I'm floating the stock grill on my '54 and only need about 8 inches of good usable trim. I just need to fill in the gaps on each side where the grill used to wrap around the sides. Anything?? Merry Christmas
Do you have a rt side w/wiper arm? It's the Anco push****on release type that has "deadlocker" stamped into it. Measures 13". Thanks, Joe

It shows the front mounts being installed. I had already done the rear one so no photos of it. Yes, the mounts come with good instructions...not perfect, but better than most. The transmission crossmember comes out first - it's bolted in - and gets drilled according to the instructions. Not rocket science. Then gets put back in. The motor mounts and ****** mount are then attached to the engine/transmission and the ***embly is lowered into place. Bolt up the rear transmission mount to the transmission crossmember, then lower the motor down. Where it ends up is where the front mounts get attached. I tack welded my motor mounts to the frame, but there are holes provided if you want to bolt them in. Either way would be okay. Ta-da...your done...'cept for one tiny detail: the pan. You've got three choices as to how to handle the interference. Heat and bend the steering arm and the idler arm; drop the center link; or use a front-sump pan like I did. You gotta do one of 'em. Good luck!
Ill look at the wipers i got and get back to you ! thanks for the jamco info...sounds like a front sump would be the easiest..
Ill look at the wipers i got and get back to you ! thanks for the jamco info...sounds like a front sump would be the easiest.. Yes...and the safest as well. Jamco has the parts you need - pan, oil pump, pickup and dipstick. As is shown in my build thread, you'll need to drill and tap one of the engine block webs. This isn't difficult, but you'll need to be sure that none of the drill or tap shavings drops into the motor. And use Loc***e on the bolt when you do the final ***embly. Good luck, and let me know if I can be of any help as you go along, okay?
Hey Daddy-0, I was wondering about the trim myself. I was thinking about putting a floating grille in my '53 (or some other grille swap). Does anyone have any ideas as to what to use if the stock trim is not available? I remember mentioning an aftermarket trim supplier to someone, but can't remember who it was now. Also, any tips on how to bend/trim it properly? Sorry to hijack, but I would also be interested in some stock trim if it's in nice shape. Thanks
the wiper arms i have say trico which is stamped on the back of the arms! sorry guys i do not have the trim for around grille that i see
what i do have that i see off hand without diggin is 4 doors off a fordor car with window regulaters in three of them ,door handles, some 4 door belt line trim, dash with turned metal insert and speedo, inside grarnish mouldings,3 speed ****** w/ pressure plate turned, clutch plate remaned.,heater parts, rear veiw mirror, headlight buckets with chrome trim, brake petal and clutch petal bracket setup, trunk hinges, trunk lid,two inside sunvisors that need to be redone just the mountin brackets arms and pressboard no upholstrey. thats all for now.....
ok so i lied i have two of the chrome peices that wrap around above the grille but the both have bends in them theyed have to be strightend!!! will take pic if wanted still havent tryed to post pic yet may take a little bit to figure it out after i read pic posting thread again..there is more then 8inchs of useable trim on both peices....and i do have the dome light cover as well....no glove box liner..
Scott... I think you can make the end pieces you need from the bent pieces LostHope has. Just remove your stock grille and park lights, then cut pieces to fit between the stock trim below the headlights down to the splash pan. You might need to pie-cut and curve them a bit, but they should do the job. I think you'll still end up with holes in the fenders so you'd better plan on repainting that area. But if it was my '53...especially if my grille was cherry like yours, I'd do this --------> Pretty clean, no?
it is pretty clean but my thought....i like the 54 bullet! or maybe its just me i like the 54 dropped...i did add th 56 olds tail lights tho...
Hi Eric, I've seen that pic- love the treatment. Dig the paint around the trim too. I think I mentioed before that I saw that grille treatment in an old R+C from the 50's and you could buy the piece. Anyone have any ideas where I could procure one? My grille does have a little surface rust, but it's far enough back that you can't see it unless you really get close. My apologies for taking this thread off topic. Scott

Just set up a search (or several searches using different search terms like "1953 Ford Grille", "1953 Ford Accessory", etc.) with automatic daily email notifications. Then just sit back and wait. Let e(vil)Bay do all the work. Simple.
