a really good 6" crescent wrench (don't get something with slop in the jaws) i like old ones as i can usually get some that are narrow, you will be suprised how often a narrow adjustable wrench comes in handy.

i like old ammo cans for tool boxes, i like the cannon shell boxes cause they are larger. I make a recess under the car that allows the box to be slid in from under the seat, that way it doesn't take up space inside the car.

    That's an easy one:
    L. S. Starrett combination square with all three heads, square, centering and reversing protractor. Its a great accurate tool for the shop. And I don't have one. Yet. You can find it here on Amazon. $149.99 + shipping

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00002254L/qid=1134058435/sr=1-9/ref=sr_1_9/104-0593308-4042355?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=228013

I will have one Christmas morning. My wife told me to order it and she'd wrap it for me for under the tree.

All hot rodders need an accurate angle finder to set pinion angles, etc. The reversing protractor head is degreed so you set it to your angle and the bubble level tells you when you have it. Lots better than the cheapie plastic ones at Sears and that cheap Chinese place, HF. And it won't break. The centering head is good for finding the center of round stock.

Lasts forever and you can leave it to the hot rodder in your family.

  6. Dear Santa,,I'd like a new,Lincoln SP-135 Plus Mig Welder(with cart) for Christmas.
And a Hobart auto-darkening welding hood wouldn't hurt either.

I'll save you the grief of bringing all this shit down my chimney. The sliding glass door will be unlocked,,cookies & milk will be on the table.
    Thanks Santa!

    Solution:
Go to Amazon.com and set up a wish list. Pick out stuff from the tools and hardware store (or any other store) and add it to your list. Then tell your family where to find the list. They can then find what you want. They can buy it from Amazon or get the item information and go find it locally or at some other place on the internet. This method works for our family. Our kids are older (beyond teenage) and they have lists. We pick from the list and everybody is happy.

Actually my Dad wants me to make a list of some tools that I might need. I think he's tired of loaning me stuff. I do know that I'm getting a new floor jack cuz he broke mine. I'm also asking for a tool chest since all I really have is a couple of drawers in my work bench and a small tool box. I'll probley hit Sears this weekend and make an exact list for "Santa". He likes that.:D

I'd also like a laptop but that's stretching it a bit. Sometimes "Santa" will pay for a portion of a gift if it's something expensive.

I'd also like a new trash can for the kitchen. The one I have is white and has seen better days. I'd like one of those fake chrome looking ones or a black one with flames.

I know I'm getting a Hot Rod book from my little nephew cuz my sister ask me to pick it out.

I've got only ONE more person left on my list to shop for then I'm DONE and it's my Mom so it's going to be easy.:D

    "Go to Amazon.com "
Anything I want requires searching Hershey for ten years! Bummer! I have become too specialized and esoteric...couldn't find and original windshield frame on amazon...
I can still enjoy the food, though!
Damn...I don't even want any tools that have been available new since about 1950!

I want a platen sander. It's one of those big bench mounted disc sanders with a table so you can grind straight and square edges on your home made brackets. Then they look like a pro did them!

My pops is getting a new mig welder w/cart. An auto darkening mask and some other welding accesory type things. (good news because therefore i get access to a welder for free.). I asked for a tool chest (i dont have one at all) and some miscelaneous tools. A new grinder would be nice to.

If you do any about of bodywork (Read: straightenind out smashed up shit) I would suggest a harbor freight palm nailer with the body hammer attachments, and a shrinking disc from John Kelly to smooth out your hammer marks.

A sheetmetal brake is #1 on my wish list followed closely by a nice vertical band saw.

.....and I am with Armstrong on the grinder thing too.

I really just hope I get that blow job I have been after though.

The box end wrenches with the ratchet built in (Sears). I got these last year for Christmas and I don't know how I lived without them. This year I want a gas heater for the garage. I have lots of body work to do before Austin! Kathy

I'm askin for a press, really handy when you need 'em. Also a good gift for someone is a nice heavy balancer puller. Or one of them really cool homemade knit yellow and blue sweaters where one sleeve is longer that the other and the neck is snug enough to turn your face a nice shade of blue.

Hmm a blown hemi, a plasma cutter, and a TIG welder would be nice!

but back in the real world, I got a craftsman gift certificate last year and that was pretty cool so I would suggest that. Also the Ron Covell metalworking videos are cool gifts.

Hey if your gonna make a list than make it good......

I'm with Slag on this one..if I want something I just go get it...that way I know i get the right one.

but if someone won the lottery....

-Vertical Band Saw (25" @ least)
-Horizontal Band Saw (capable of cutting 45 degree angles on 2x4 regt.)
-Lincoln 355 Tig with the Water Cooler and all that Jazz
-Thermal Dynamics Plasma - one of those 1" cut jobs :D just in case I decide to cut something big
    -8' Brake that handles 12ga
    -8' Shear that handles 12ga
    -Foot Pedal Air Powered Shrinker/Stretcher
-Pipe/Tube bender to make my own Rollbar

By the way does anyone know of a good source for those pipe benders...jesse and OCC use them alot to build frames/ roll bars and exahust pipes(for bikes @least) and how expensive are they? better off having someone just bend it up the way I want it??

Make sure you get the kind that has "slop in the jaws" like fur biccuit was talking about with cheap crecent wrenchs.

Im getting some period in-correct speakers for my car.

I would really like a plasma cutter but that will never happen.

I also want an ipod but i dont think thats gonna happen either.

So maybe some taillights for my s10 or somethin.

Well thanks to the advice from Hamb members I have a Drill Dr. setting under the tree right now.

One thing I purchased years ago that I never thought I would use is Tap Sockets. They come in a set of six or eight and I use them constantly. They are so much easier than those stupid tap wrenchs that the tap fall out of all the time. They are not Sears but I can't think right now what the brand is. Very Handy.\

Oh and plowboy ,Maybe I can help you out , my wife has promised me two blowjobs , maybe I can just mail you one.
