My name is Rich. ....was born and raised in Ohio along the Lake. I have been interested in cars for what seems like "forever". My first car was a '49 Merc tudor (wish I still had that one). Cut my racing teeth on small block chevys, had a 57 hardtop (7 different engines) and (after that one got crashed), got a 56 tudor (installed a built 327 w/4 spd). Bought a 63 split window Corvette. Got married, sold the vette, put the cars away for 25 years and raised a family, 2 girls & a boy. Got divorced in 1990 and got started back into the cars again. Built a very fast 23 T bucket and started a short time later on a '33 Ford coupe, which I am driving now. Remarried to a great lady (8 years ago) that loves cars and most everything that I like. Retired April 1st of 2005 and started to enjoy my interests. I would like to say HELLO to everyone on this site. I have been lurking for a while and believe I know some of you already. I know I have met some of you on the road and hope to see you and many others soon.
Rich,Welcome to the the best board on the net.My life is similar to yours, married, kids big D ,new wife lets me do what ever I want. Life is great except I still have to workto support my cars. Bob
Thanks, Doc and Sewman........for the welcome. Hey Doc, is Shreveport still in the South (?) with all that wind you folks have had, I am not sure.....but thanks for the welcome. Same goes to Sewman, a big thanks. Currently I am in Arizona trying to stay away from the snow and cold winds up in Ohio. When we return, some time in May, maybe we will "run into each other" on the road. I get out that way some times in the Hot-Rod. Hey Doc, as far as the "retirement" thing.....I highly recommend it !!! It is great... The first month was difficult, feeling like I should be going to work everyday.....soon that feeling went away and now it is very very good.
Welcome Rich! Great to see another Ohioan here. Hope to see you around when the weather breaks. Any chance you're going to the 50th anniversary show in Cleveland in the Spring?
Thanks Bill and Frank for the welcome. Yes, summer will come to Ohio (we hope). This will be the first complete winter we will spend in the valley or the sun. It is much better than Ohio winters. Hey Frank, I see you have a bike (?) cool, so do I. It is great riding out here in the desert. Too much traffic in town to make it very comfortable. I did not bring my coupe with me on this trip but look forward to having it here next year. I will be making some of the shows and cruisin's during the summer months in Ohio and hope to see some of you there. Again, thanks for the welcome note.
No problem Rich. Enjoy the decent weather, we're getting pelted right now. Yup, I ride a limey. Finally wised up and sold the pair of old ones and bought a new one. Last thing on my mind is a ride about now, though. Got a 29 model A roadster project to build over the winter, so hopefully you'll see me around in it at shows next year. If not, will be in my 58 Buick or 54 Chevy. If you see me, (can't miss my tat) just come up and say hi.
Welcome Rich! I too am here is the frosty damn state of Ohio (Columbus area). I'm from Los Angeles . . . came here willingly . . . everybody from here thinks I'm nuts. Truth is, after 38 years in L.A. --- decided to move to where I had some good opportunity and could afford a place with some land and a workshop. Way far from retirement, but I'm working away on my "projects" one again. I have a 34 5 -window that used to run a blown flathead and was stored for 25 years (since I last raced). I also have a 40 Merc coupe. I'm just getting started on these projects -- building a blown flatty and a blown 392 with Donovan 417 heads. Anyway . . . enough of my babble -- best of luck on the site and hope to cross paths with you some day. Dale
No, I am sorry, We will not be able to make it to the Choppers show this year. Too much "family stuff" going on...... Woun't be leaving Arizona until the end of March. Must be in Florida in April for my Daugthers wedding. Should be back in Ohio in May, so we will miss the Choppers show. I am sure we will see each other on the road this summer. At least I hope so. I look forward to seeing a lot of folks, on the road, this summer. We plan to stop in at a lot of the small cruise in's all around the area and some of the major car shows. Catch you all later..............
It's at the Soccer Sportsplex in North Olmstead, right at 480 and 10. It has 3 big arenas for more rods and customs and a lot more parking than our old show place. It's the 7,8, and 9th of April. There will be LOTS of cool old magazine cars from the 50's and 60's like the Polynesian, the Candy Angel, and more. Feel free to pm me with any questions on the show. Kevin
