this was my beater before i started on the 5-w heres the pic at b-ville 1rst time. went on a 10,000 mile trip through the west US... it was an old 70s rod that i cleand up a bit. from what i understand it had the beer keg oak flat bed thing goin on, and was green metal flake the bed was t remains i got from a local junkyard it got dug out of the ground and replaced lots of metal , i whacked a couple inches out of the roof, should have went three more... belive it or not the think was channeled 6''... this car started my hatered for channeled cars after being stuck 10k in the heat, especially in the az desert with those stupid looking side pipes cookin me!!!

32, you just gave me a great idea. I've been thinking over and over what I would paint mine once built and just the mention of ARMY got my mind pumping. Thanks for the inspiration.

heres a rat i built with cast off parts.... its fairly low but, i made sure it would clear speed bumps with no problem and when i got a flat it wouldnt tear the oil pan off.. it was thrown together in about 3 months of free time while i was waiting for my friend to finish the bondo work on the 5-w ,as im not very good at the "bodymans touch" and everything takes me 3 times as long, plus im allergic to the dust , i need to sell but its just a roller right now ,i'll probely put it in the classifieds with more pics if anyone is intrested ...

  21. Thirty Two..........talk about stance being all wrong? This was what my 33 looked like when I dragged it's sorry ass home [except for the T-box...it wasn't on the truck when I bought it] Someone had cobbled a 42-48 front axle and "spring in front" setup under it. Had a siezed 34 steering box and water pipe tie rod...X had been hogged out of the frame to accomodate an allison engine, it looked like. took lotsa work to get it in the sad shape it was when I was driving it.... I changed it to magnum axle and posies spring with 40 spindles and brakes and split model A bones...

[/ QUOTE ] Dang, hadn't thought of that, even when I started primering w/ the Sucky Air Compressor in the neighbor's driveway earlier this week. Hell, I thought I was pushing my luck with all the ruckus that compressor was making.

One thing struck me looking at this thread. Have any of you encountered a restorer who bemoans the fact that HOT RODDERS just ruin old cars? Take a look at some of the photos here. Do you think a restorer would bother with some of this JUNK? NO!! I still believe that if it weren't for rodders a lot of the old cars that survived would be just a memory.
