What bolt pattern would 34" Ford wire wheels be?

What can you do about mounting them on modern style disk brakes? Is there an aftermarket drum retainer available or would this be a Custom fab deal?

I found 6 Kelsey Hayes wire wheels. These are 3 ½ X16 inch, 32 spoke rims. They are good originals from a ’34 Ford. One has side mount cover.

    Thanks for any advice.

    33/34 Ford wheels are 17" 35s are 16"
You need drum brakes for Ford wires.

  3. Your 3 1/2 x 16 wheels are not 35 Ford. 35 Ford were 4 x 16 with 5-5 1/2 bolt pattern. What is the bolt pattern on the 3 1/2 x 16 that you have? Maybe we can determine what they are for.

I am regurgitating what the advertisiment read. apperantly the seller is in error. I would still love to have a set for my model A though...

I've sent him an e-mail requesting the bolt pattern but I'm guessing that it's going to be 5 x5½"

  5. The width may have been mis-stated, they may be 4".

  6. The only Ford/KH wheels with 16 x 3 1/2 were 1937-38 with 5-10 1/4 bolt pattern. The picture in that link don't look like that, so...........he'll have to re-measure for you. The two wheels pictured look like paint over rust, or it's a bad picture.

  7. Do you have disc brakes on your A now?

Those are not 16" wheels. Might sound a little strange but you can tell just by looking at the space between the hub and rim that they are at least 17".

Also - Ford did make a few 3 1/2 x 16" steel wheels with a 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern. V8-60 equipped '40 Fords came with them. I think Vaphead owns a couple?

  10. You need to be careful about buying those without an exact measure, as there were some mid 1930s chevy and chrysler that had 16 and 17 inch with 5x4 1/4, 5x4 1/2 wires.

If thats Ford wheels, its 17'. Spokes are shorter on 16's.
    34 would then be correct.
Dont think they'll be good for discbrakes, atleast not without some kinda big adapterplate.they need good support.
