During TV coverage on Speed Channel last night a '55 Country Sedan woody crossed the block. Red, looking mighty good. Sold for $32k I thought that was pretty low, sign of the times I guess. There have been some other Fords of interest auctioned also, including some police cars. http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appl...list.aspx?aid=304&sd=01/20/2010&ed=01/20/2010
Actually that is about avg. for the fords. There was a 1956 Vicky 2dr HT on wed that was immaculate and went for $38k. So far they are down on prices but the Fords have always been low at auctions. Keep looking as there is a teal and white 56 Crown Vic going through later in the auction.
I just finished posting on the main board,we had severe storms here in Phoenix, two Barrett Jackson tents were blown down by high winds one ended up out on the 101 freeway and caused it to be shut down for hours there are many damaged cars from the tent poles but news crews are not being allowed into the area as the storm is still active.
Jeff, it was not Barrett Jackson. It was one of the smaller auctions that was going on down the street from BJ. They were talking about it on show last night. Said the auction had to be evacuated.
Correction: It was the Russo & Steele auction, the talking heads got it wrong, after I posted I got to thinking that was a long, long way for the tent to end up on the 101 since Barrett-Jackson is on the I-10.The parking lots at Westworld where Barrett Jackson is a sea of mud which they showed on TV.
I get a kick out of how you west coast and AZ guys call your highways "THE" 101 and "THE" 10. I have a good friend who lives in San Luis Opbispo that I razz about this frequently...of course he tells me that I'm the one who's saying it the wrong way.
Well, IS there another Hwy 101. If not it is "THE" 101, haha. Just out of curiousity how do you say it the 'proper way' from where you are from, Houston Metro??? hahaha...
That 55 woody I referenced in the first post was a Wednesday sale, it seems to me watching Thursday and Friday so far the prices are climbing steadily as the high roller bidders start to get in the act for the weekend.
Here's the video for that story about the tents blowing over. http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/dpp/news/local/scottsdale/auto_auction_winds_012210
Y-Blockhead.....it is funny......I first noticed this little quirk when I was in the service and the Cali guys would refer to the major highways as THE 5, etc. I guess here in the Republic of Texas we just say, "take I-10" or "highway 10".....we don't add the "THE" thing to the front of it. Sorry to hijack the thread.
Did you guys see the green 53 ranchwagon that went for I think 24600. With the matching trailer, it was *****in!
yeah that rig was too cool and too cheap. There was also a 52 country squire in staging lanes when the TV coverage ended. It was billed as the Dennis the Menace car, which implies it had been used on the TV series or movie. The hammer price was $35,200. A '56 Crown Vic also sold last night for $71,500
