The Jalopy Journal
Just installed in my '28 Roadster. Chrysler Sebring with shortened backs and recovered.
Anybody able to help me out as to what these where originally on?? They look similar to the red one in the post above, but if you look close...
That width is for the axle flanges. The housing flanges are about 52+ inches.
Front fenders and running boards are the same. Rear fenders are different.
There's currently a thread going on the Fordbarn Forum concerning the side braces in the rumble/trunk area of 1935-36 coupes. The original poster...
It appears you presently have a stock 10 leaf Model A Ford spring, which was originally used on the largest and heaviest Model A's - 4 dr sedans,...
Speedway sells a kit for $100 that puts Dodge Aspen rotors (likely same as Volare?) and 70's GM calipers onto early Ford spindles. Is this about...
I agree it looks to be a Model A spring - more pictures and a measurement of the leaf width would help to confirm. 49.5" is the correct...
He also hasn't posted since January 2005.
On a stock, factory setup I've never seen them anywhere but on the rear.
The first headlights look like mid-30's Ford pickup - they will be the bulb and reflector style, not a sealed beam. The 682-J's in the second...
Checked my '35 Ford deck lid and it's identical to the pictured one. Nice find - good ones are hard to find and pricey.
Putting together a 1928 Roadster - SBC, dropped I-beam front, 9" rear, basically stock body (full fendered, hood, bumpers, etc.), 1935 wire wheels...
Here's a picture I saved from somewhere - I think everything is in place except for the roof ribs and seat parts:
I think this thread has probably run it's course as the car was sold on eBay about three weeks ago.
With all the talk of the axle being so narrow, I'm just curious what the front TREAD (width from center of tire to center of tire on opposite...
I think Irish Mike got it right - all 1935-36 3 windows were Deluxes. Only the 5 window coupes came in Standard and Deluxe versions.
They also sell on eBay (and seem to do surprisingly well there). In the last year they have received over 1100 positives and only 11 negatives...
Another vote FOR the fenders and running boards!!
So I took my 57 big bearing rear axles to one of the largest shops in the city to have the bearings removed. They torched them (and chiseled...
Looking super - great work. I have a '35 3W pretty much disassembled and ready to start fixing and re-assembly - all the pic's you've posted will...
I'm pretty sure you have a very early 1928 Ford Model A Fordor cowl made by Briggs. The later 1928 and 1929 cowls were identical except they...
The seat legs in your picture indicate that this was a Tudor body (as the grey one in the picture posted above by Von Rigg Fink). Coupe bodies...
Assuming you know those appear to be 1932 Ford frames? (hard to find and pricey).
Pretty sure it is 1936 based on the shape of the spring mounting arms on the front end of the wishbone.
The instrument panel indicates 1928. 1929 panel was similar but different for sure.
What about the "Business Coupe"? The "Sport Coupe"?
Ask on the "Fordbarn" forum. The absolute experts in anything Model A are there.
One more vote for FENDERS.
Noticed at the newstand that this car is featured in the 1st. issue of Street Rodder Premium magazine.
