You be good to that wagon you hear! ;):) what a good start, I like the wagon, has lots of potential
check for spark. make sure you are getting some spark at the plugs. check all wiring to coils and or distributor, may have a loss of power or ground
did you check the cables? how are the grounds? im leaning towards a starter only because you said it was running before when it cranks now does it...
the fill tube is a breather hole if you put a breather cap on it :D
does the block have a breather hole in the back by distributor or on the intake?
well that sounds like a pretty good break in, your cam is prob ok. I would make sure your pcv system is operating correctly before you make any...
I personally would start with fuel pump for assurance. Hasn't happened to me but i have seen blocks that have burnt up internally because of fuel...
I like to install breathers straight to the crank case, will give less back pressure inside engine. Maybe the case is not getting enough breathing

did you change anything to your car before it acted up? sometimes things you don't expect to be affected, get affected by new parts, just a thought
if it smells like gas then thats a problem. Is the fuel smell really strong? does the oil feel thinner viscosity wise?
