Looks like the 2 ton truck has washers in it. I still cant find any reference to my 37 having washers. My local engine machinist isn't much help...
Yeah pain in the ass. good to see you done with this stage, good work. Another thing to remember is primer and chassis paint is bad enough but...
New 3.24 ring and pinion. I didn't take it apart, I got it as a box of parts.
Plenty of anti seize and oil. So I put this back together and it's still tight. It's not even torqued down fully and it's too tight to turn over...
18 tooth axle, 12 tooth spider.
Oil rings on upside down will do that.
I don't see any washers. <a href="http://s13.photobucket.com/user/zgears/media/P1030279_zpsfef9a2a6.jpg.html" target="_blank">[img]</a> <a...

Show-off!
He wants $2400 for the NOS ones, about the same as a retail french flathead. He wants 600 for a used core that in all likelihood is cracked, as...
I'm I wrong for thinking $600 for a used core is outrageous?
Nice work. You're in for a treat. Painting is the most frustrating thing i've done. Do you have a respirator? I used a modified wide view czech...

Whaddya know... one's short. I should have measured them. I guess I figured since I'm paying a premium for NOS axles I'd at least get sent the...
Ok, looks like the driver side is correct(4-1/4") but the passenger side is short(3-5/8). So it's 5/8" short on the right side. <a...
Looks short, the keyway is up in the axle. <a href="http://s13.photobucket.com/user/zgears/media/P1030240_zps15c72b9a.jpg.html"...
here's what a 42' rear looks like. <a href="http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a255/zgears/car/?action=view&current=P1010712.jpg"...
This is what I ordered from Dick Spadaro. "I have a 37 ford rear axle with a 12 tooth spider. I believe It is this part number??? 48-4235 Rear...
The story on the axle is, it was taken out of a 37 ford back in the 40's because it had 4.44 gears. driver side tube has a part number 68-4046...
It's seated. It won't spin because its jammed against the backing plate, even without being properly torqued down. Which makes me again suspect...
I hope this is the case. This is the rear end, but I dont have the original hubs.http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=723018
I just rebuilt my 37' axle complete with NOS axles. the hubs are 42'. the hubs are tightened down and it looks like I have the wrong hubs or...
