The Jalopy Journal
What clear did you use, and how did you mix it?
Holy crap that's cheap.
If I were Phil, I'd be in that 409 car so fast it would make your head swim.
The banks are different angles on a flathead...did you account for that during your decking?
Really good looking car.
I see the pedal is rock hard with the ports blocked, which is good. Vacuum bleed the lines one by one and you should be okay.
The alternator charges better when stuck in traffic anyway...and, this car has a hood. I have a generator on my roadster but an alternator in my...
They look good. I'd love to see more finished pics with glass installed. Is the Cad chop finished? I'd really like to see that one with glass.
Yes, all the time. It won't hurt the engine. edit: I wouldn't do this with a new engine, and normally it's without the water pump belt.
I'd definitely replace the cap and rotor. Those don't look too hot, and they are cheap to replace.
Did you buy it yet?
I did this exact setup in our '55. I used this:...
Well, I've never seen anything like that, either! Oh, wait--I can't actually see it at all. :) Could you please post a pic?
NOW I'm intrigued. The Sgt hasn't tried mechanical or juice brakes. What's left--reins?
Juice brakes are too newfangled and aren't really traditional. You should stick with mechanical.
Yes, and practical: this rod has a three-point hitch.
What Blackjack said.
Did you rebuild the Treadlevac? One of the main reasons those things are dangerous is that they leak internally, where you can't see it. Never...
Hot Rod Elvis, that Liquid Ass stuff is REVOLTING. I was in a shop and the owner opened a bottle of it and I took a sniff. You wouldn't BELIEVE...
Very desirable car. Assuming all the parts are there and numbers match, I'd offer $10k for it.
Thanks, Mike. I have some pics I took a year ago in Daytona of Marshall Teague's car (not sure if replica, but I think it was real). I will dig...
Give me a bit and I'll measure the width for you. I don't think two skinny kids should be a problem, but I sure wouldn't call it "spacious."
49Super6, I'm going to send you a PM. I bought the car from Jim before he passed. I am planning to do a 100% nut-and-bolt restoration. Skoh73,...
Here's my 1953 Hornet convertible.
I did what 40StudeDude suggests on my '59 Lincoln. The Treadlevac is not a safe braking setup. One of the small "street rod" style vacuum...
Your car will be very straightforward to work on and you will learn a lot, and have fun, while doing so. Do you have more pics of the car?
Here's a link to some more VIN info: http://www.lovefords.org/tech/vine.htm
My 1950 Ford convertible's VIN starts with B0DL.
Make sure that you are providing power to the correct pin on the HEI. There are four, as I recall: Coil -, unused, tach, and B+. You need to...
