There are about half a dozen or so spot welds Running down the side of each cowl. Also some rivets and spot welds on the front lower corners....
Got the engine back from the machinists today so just put all the stuff back together to mock for engine mounts. Get those welded on over the...
Got the new door hinges in from Snyders so had a go at refitting both doors. Even with the amount of welding I’ve done to the cowl and redoing...
Making slow and steady progress [ATTACH]
Didn’t get the chance to get down the machinists today. I can understand the need to balance the assembly in a high rpm race motor but didn’t...
I shall have a word with regards to balancing the rotating assembly when I go down on Monday. I appreciate all and any help
I’ll have a word with the machinists on Monday. I was only going to match each rod/piston assembly. If they’re all pretty much the same then...
Better to be over engineered. Definitely not going to be in a rush with building the engine. Only going to be used as a cruiser with the odd go...
Going with 461 heads so should give me a 10.35cr according to sealed power
Just going to go over the very crown of the piston to make sure I don’t get any nicks in the notes on installation. The 12000 grade won’t affect...
Bought some Eagle rods. The last thing I want to do is have any problems later down the line. I’ll be putting about an extra 150bhp through 50...
I took mine apart to check the notes and such. Found rust marks in a couple of bores. Took the pistons out to find one set of rings totally...
Luckily I’m the engine builder and I’ll go over everything before I build it up. Only using the machine shop for the boring/honing. Got some...

Got a little bit more done. Cut the floor out and started again. I’ve seen the video made by Eastwood as to how they did there’s and cam up with...
Thanks for everybody’s thoughts or opinions. Hopefully made a good decision with getting those Eagle rods.
Just bought those Eagle rods from JEGS for $250. Went with these as they’re press fit and will suit the new pistons
Had a quick look at Eagle website and it says they’re the same 0.927 press fit. Looks like I’ll get these as they’re rated for up to about 500hp
Seen these on JEGS but it doesn’t show the wrist pin size [ATTACH]
Looking at those rods they’re for floating pins. I need press fit rods
Thanks for the quick replies. Looking at the pistons and the fact they’re std size I’d say it’s never been apart. Being in the UK it’s not as...
just thought I’d ask and see if my rods are up to the task of my planned motor. At the moment they are standard rods in my small journal 327....
Going to be a lot better than the 8.5cr on my original motor
For all the aggro this has given me so far, I wish I’d just bought a known good running 350. Only bought this off a friend of mine as he said it...
Going to leave the heads as stock, but just rebuild with the comp cam springs
Looking at the .40 pistons like ”Baumi” said, it give me a CR if 10.35 with the 461 heads. Think the pistons I’ve seen are forged
Pulled the engine apart yesterday. Oh the joys Got the freeze plugs out to find something that looks like chocolate fudge in the waterways. Got...
