I run homemade slappers on my 55 w/9"...I moved my springs under the frame for tire clearance.... the slappers hit the spring under the eye .......

if you are gonna use it like a truck just cut the floor out of a donor(cheap) truck bed.... or you can do the fancy wood floor & throw a thick...
hard to butt weld w/cleco's- you have to have overlap to use them......HF & eastwood (among others)make butt weld clamps...... hope this helps

the vw setup wouldn't work upside down, the arm has a counterweight on it..the eng vacuum sucks it open & controls the flow... for a trad rod...
