Split Model A.
These things are definitely cheap crap. I was planning to buy Super Bell arms, but I'm leaning towards the P&J now.
I think these will fit: https://www.yogisinc.com/YPJ-1108M
Wishbones.
I am putting a drop axle together and have a question about steering arms. I am using Speedway spindles with '40 outers, and have to buy steering...
I have a '40 banjo rear for mine that I'm planning to tear down in a couple months. I should probably invest in a press like that.
I think "locking bolt" is the preferred nomenclature.
I used to work on old bikes with those, which is why I call them cotters. I think I met Sheldon at Harris Cyclery back in the day.
Yeah, it may be. It appears to have been narrowed at some point. Apologize for the paint; it will be resprayed black if used.
I was mistaken on that. It has a repair of some sort, but isn't dropped.
Going to have to find some different wishbones as these are 2 1/4". My other axle needs 1 15/16".
You guys have convinced me. I was going to use it for mockup, but it's going to scrap. I'll mockup my A axle.
So I'm just mocking up the rolling chassis right now. I have an original A axle that was cut and welded to drop back in the day. I might build...
The center of the notch is about 2.5" below the cap. I decided to widen the notches last night, and everything went together. I checked a spare...
They're about flush now. Trimming additional length wouldn't help as the slots are too high. Would it be bad to take a little material off with...
I did remember to pack those with grease. Like the axle, I'm pretty sure these did come from JL. I might build up the stock A axle I have with...
I don't disagree but I had the same problem with the real A axle. The issue might be these kingpins. Edit: definitely the felt ring being too thick.
I imagine it's Speedway or Johnny Law. I compared it to a stock A model axle and it looks like the holes line up.
I don't know as they were in a parts bag with the axle and spindles, but I would venture to guess Speedway. I actually clamped the pin down, but...
The felt pad and dust cap are on there.
I gave that a shot. Unfortunately, the retainer on top of the pin hits the lip on the spindle when flipped.
I am putting together a drop axle, and I've never installed a pair of these. I think I have the spacers and bearing in the proper arrangement,...
Yeah, I'd say. I have a '98 Ram beater that's eligible for collector plates next year.
I don't currently have any amazing vintage items, but I have a '65 Airline Bobkat H-14 and a 70's Custom Tele Deluxe (MIJ) that see a lot of use....
Yeah, it ain't cheap. I'm glad my body is still fairly straight, so I won't have to spend it on sheet metal.
I think I'm going to purchase a body wood kit from fordwood.com. My woodworking skills aren't refined enough for that job.
An acquaintance of mine used to Bondo over roofing shingles on rotted doors.
Man, I hope the '23 turtle deck T I'm putting together looks half that good.
I've always loved '55 T-birds, but this is the best one I've seen.
That thing is bad ass!
