The Jalopy Journal
I have always used craftsman. Don't buy cheap open end's. Sure as shit they will spread when you have a tough nut. I have had S K ratchets and...
As has been stated, radials perform so well that snows have lost favor. That along with FWD. But you had better get all season radials or you will...
Anyone who says that is not enough engine for this car's weight hasn't driven those old LTD's that came stock with this engine and a 2 barrel....
No DMV is user friendly. :(
Just get the paper work from your state for an untitled car, then have a junk yard owner sign that it had been in his yard for years.
Really looking great. Do you have any photo's of the chop?
To be exact for the roll over, you need steel wheels painted with aluminum paint and single exhaust.;)
"My uncle had a car just like this one. Sure wish I had it today." It's surprising how many relatives had a 39 Pontiac business coupe.
Just because a car is old does not mean it can be called a hot rod. If you alter it with a bigger engine, you might call it a street rod. But...
As long as this thread is reopened, I am going to stir the pot and give my 2 cents. Plane and simple, the cut off point for a hot rod was based...
Just beautiful. I'm a sucker for these early, full fendered rods.
I stopped making the AMT kits 57 years ago. The testers glue would melt the plastic if you didn't watch it. I painted them with Dope. It would get...
Remarkable how that car buffed out. It looks great. With that long hood it kinda looks like a wacky racer.
I used to get that part in the junk yard. We didn't know how good we had it.
I used to go to a big swap meet in Grand Rapids MN. We would pay the entrance and park in the show area. Not to compete for a trophy, but to have...
You just have the timing advanced a little too far.
I agree with squirrel. The badge is home made. A very neat job, but the upper line on the left had triangle does not meet with the base. I do not...
I'm happy for you. Happy you got the car. Happy you got the car running. Jealous you got the girl though. That's a nice car. Big too.
:p
That dist. is like schrodinger's cat. :)
Exactly. You open the dist. thinking the the points are here and find they are there. So now you think you need to rotate the dist. 180 degrees....
I was looking at that, wondering what they were from. I knew if I waited long enough I wouldn't have to show my ignorance. "MMMM MMMM! Gonna show...
You may have been top dead center on the exhaust stroke. Hard to visualize the dist. jumping exactly 180.
Motor oil is all you need. Do as you want, we all look for something exotic when it is something simple.
The manual may say 114 to118, but there are some very low readings here. IMO, 90 pounds is marginal and the rest, forget about it. Test again...
You should listen to this guy. When you took your compression test, you should have taken it dry and with oil in cyl. That way you would know if...
This thread is open to anyone who wants to post a link to Model A chops. I just have not moved to them yet. Still looking at the fat fender chops....
