Marty, you're proving my point aren't you? You have a radiator with a flat crossmember. What's the issue?
And what I am saying is that people run completely flat crossmembers, which mine is not, and they obviously find a radiator that works.
Also, I just realized that pic I posted was the first step in welding. That wasn't the completed pic. That pic was even before the underside was...
What you are seeing is far away from the actual joint. I made wide fillet beads on top to get a curvature. The actual joint is welded, both sides....
I don't own a radiator. So if one can work with a totally flat crossmember, it certainly will work with mine.
[ATTACH] Stock A axle, but getting some lowering by moving the crossmember up and using a reversed eye spring. I looked at what was available as...
That's a bunch of miles. Congrats on that!! Thanks
What about notching the frame slightly if axle to frame clearance is an issue?
Thanks. Do you have any insight in regards to using a 2" drop cross member and some yet "unchosen" spring?
No, I have '41 spindles. I have F1 backing plates and am using some '64 F100 drums. I upgraded a '64 to 3" wide drums and am using the left over...
Thank you to blue 49 for actually trying to help. Most of the rest here, I'm sure, were terrible students. Know it-alls, but couldn't do it. The...
Not sure what fun you are having now? You started off helping, then changed lanes? I don't get it. I have helped all my life.
I don't need anyone telling me what I have to think. I do take offense. If you want to help, then help. If you want me to do as you like, go fly a...
And why am I supposed to be impressed?? Not sure what your goal is here . .but I guess it moved from trying to help?
That's just wonderful.
Do you see something about the Speedway piece you don't like?
My group is about Mustang Restoration. . . . . I wouldn't introduce a Model A question as I wouldn't want anyone else to either. I keep it on...
I guess this is what you are referring to? Cheap. Might be the trick. So a slightly lower spring as well ?...
The frame is not finished yet. Still boxing and the front is unfinished. This is something to look into, thanks.
I say I don't need your opinion. I was doing fine without the attitude. I manage a 5000 plus member group on Restoration. You have no clue . . .
How about this pic? I know different year frame again . . . . . I think. But it's not sitting so low. [IMG]
My axle is a stock '30.
What can be done with the stock axle? My axle is detailed and spindles/backing plates installed.
I would guess the one I posted is about 5" lower than stock.
Now we're getting somewhere, thanks. The pics are great too. The Coupe is closer to what i want in stance. Looking for a rake, so close to stock...
Yep. I build cars for a living now. I have restored Mustangs since '83, since '90 as a business. I taught auto for 30 years. I do restorations now...
Please . . for the last time, I DO NOT WANT DROPPED SPINDLES!! Where is this disconnect?
I need to buy a spring . . don't have a usable stock spring. Didn't know if the 289 would be too much for it anyway? Wanted a purchase...
I said I wasn't going to use any dropped spindles, I was laying out what I was wanting. Mostly stock height, maybe a little lower. 289 instead of...
Start your own thread . . why hijack mine?
