I chopped the stanchions and windshield 3 1/4" on my '29 Roadster...they're not leaned back. The curved bottom of the windshield is about 1/4"...
Most of the Model A parts suppliers have cowl welt available...check their web sites.

Looks like 1.549 inches thick after sanding the top / bottom only. Didn't do anything to the sides[ATTACH] ...3.91 inches.
Had to change to a flat strap, drilled & tapped for a 1/4" X 20 bolt...the element was to thick, sanded the top & bottom of the filter elements to...
Forgot to include the air filter element [ATTACH] number info was for the Grace & Co air filters
I used a WIX filter #42719...had to "dress" both sides of the filter and change the threaded strap on the bottom. Don't know what other similar...
