The Jalopy Journal
The photo in post 6 looks much like the one I striped from a new aftermarket switch. I was able to do some whittling on the ceramic to make it fit...
Anyone? $199
Seems that Rodder article says the '58 Olds arms interchange with Pontiac. Those are super hard to find as well. A 1 year only deal.
Not hard to cut some coils but that is pretty low. Let me check the Hollander book for spindle interchange.
Yup, Definitely have a copy of that old Rodder's digest article. Just try to finds a set of lower '58 control arms in a salvage yard!
It looks like '55 & 56 will fit (Hollander) but might anyone know if other years or divisions will work? One of the goals is to run 5 on 5 wheels....
"falls out of high on the overun." This is British for pops outta 3rd?? Bloody Hell!
What a timely thread... Picked up a switch pitch a while back, it had the input shaft and 2 wires. Then I find out its just a ST300 with electric...
Think this is for a Chevy truck. Poor thing! It must have a story to tell. It lived to run another day, maybe I will pull the cover & look around....
Bummer, Last day of the year.. One door closes but another one opens... Other than that, it's a pretty good car!
I see 5! Might be on Olds or two...
Someone come get this!

Tried a pair of straight snap ring pliers?
Seen the Caddy Daddy repops @ $100+. 57-59 GM cars excepting the Chevys used a quite different switch. and the rheostat thing is a problem. NOS is...
NOS are $200-400.
For the late 50's GM cars, some re-pops are available but they are pricey. Has anyone found a good solution for these? A new rivet search was...

My book says 52-56 Olds. Guessing they maybe had a slightly wider shoe than Pontiac? Otherwise kissing cousins. '39-'57 Pontiac drums interchange...
Edit: 55-58 Pontiac = 71-73 Scout & 46-48 Olds per Raybestos.
"Are you also having a rear brake heating up situation?" Yes Sir, that would be the title of the thread ;)
Johnny's suggestion is fascinating. My 57 Pontanic does exactly the same thing. I concluded that it must be a collapsed (new) rear brake hose,...
Looks like Squablow spilled the lug nuts! Yes, Quasi open, I dropped about 200 bucks that day
Curious here too about a front seal. Couldn't a guy use a shielded bearing (front only) to help control oil? It would save a lot of gear lube!
The Perfect stocking stuffer!
