The "Edelbrock" is not raised...it's either etched or machined into the end of the head, so filling is the way to hide it.

I googled a bit and came up with the Pontiac "split six" which has two heads. Apparently Pontiac ran with this engine config from 1926 thru 1932.
8-71 is definitely too big.... but that 6-71 you've got sittin on there looks just right!
