Could it be the backing plate on the water pump being too close and the impeller is making audible contact?

I recommend a Carter M3528 fuel pump as it puts out 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 psi. This fuel pump is used on Y block and FE engines. Summit carries this...

Yes, I tested my pump and it measured 5 psi while the vehicle was running. I have a SUN inline fuel pressure tester (came with my Sun Machine)....
