The Jalopy Journal
I think it's a great idea :)
Up in the North Bay (Wine Country) you should attend the cruise and show. Big time event and they love out of Staters. I'll bet some folks will...
Get your refund and fix it unless you are building a show car? Run the thing and get some street miles out of it. Life's too much of a hassle...
Cool - looks like there might be some Chinese tin that could be worked into something HAMBish :)
Sorry, this would not run Gas Class. Real Gassers were restricted to crankshaft center lines no more than 24" off the deck among other things....
57 is the nicest of the "square" cabs. I'd drop the front a few inches and drill the axle, put 14" Lincoln steelies on it up front. 15" wider...
Nice build :)
So we had a sort of sunny day and I pulled the heads out of the box to start cleaning up the bowls. The factory throat cut on the 14022601 mid...
Send the axle out and have it dropped. Drill the center web for old school look. With new king pins and bushings, it will steer just fine....
Best oil for manuals is Red Line MTL. It's light and makes shifting so smoooth. No reports or any failures running big power - excellent lube....
Why not look at a 368 Lincoln Y Block? At first glance it would look stock, but easily blow away most comers :)
Excellent :)
Anyone use John Deere Muffler Black?
Hydro's used to be everywhere. But they are heavy and they seem to have been turned into scrap a long time ago. I'd go to one of the national...
Stick a junk yard 350 in the truck and make the W into a rod motor :)
I've seen one with the SBC cross flow head. Don't know how hard it was, but it's been done.
I think this thread teaches what NOT to do :(
Prolly a good idea. As far as rear goes, you could use a 8" out of a later (like early 60's) mid-sized. Easy to swap carriers and tough enough...
Weld the cracks and sleeve the motor?
CGasWillys is the deal. Build it with period correct pieces. Chevy Van or Econoline to donate most of the parts like springs, eyes, bushings,...
Kanter has them, but I think their price is high. Did you try your local Napa? There is a whole bunch of sets on eBay.
Phew - that's more info in one place than I have seen anywhere else. Yeah :)
From Corvette Action board: The original "097" Duntov cam (P/N 3736097, casting #3736098) had 228* intake and 230* exhaust duration @.050", .394"...
Cubic inches rule for absolute power, but if you only want the look of a cool W motor, the 348 is a good candidate. They're out there in trucks...
Love the wires and the all day drive look :)
Great car and nice build. Good ideas and aproach. Gassers (whether real, or street fighters, were about simple, neat and light). They were a...
Lot's of possibilities. I'd be drivin it and thinking on the remodel a lot. It'll come to you. Most of the 90's stuff will sell for a pretty...
I'm with RetroJim. If he lied to you, that was made up for. But he spread it around, so he needs to make up a bit more. What else you want?
Yeah, I was talking about the sides of the chamber shrouding the valves. These old heads are a great place to start learning port work with a die...
