I went to O'Reilly and they hooked me up on my '54 Chevy 210. Exact same that came off. Back was even metal.
I would say based on rear 1/4's it's a '54. Attached is '53. Metal around taillights is different. If I'm wrong, someone please let me know.

If rebuilding IFS go to chevytalk.org for step by step how to. I did that cut 1.5 coils and added dropped uprights. I noticed no different ride....

I can only answer one question: You can use the stock steering. Mine came with 400 CID SBC. It has stock steering and front stock suspension....
