The Jalopy Journal
The reason for limiting lift with a larger intake valve on a 283 is that the valve will hit the top of the cylinder bore. Even with a 1.94 intake...
What a great score. It makes me miss my old '39 Deluxe first car. Tom
Like the caption says I was also captivated by that Chevy back in '62. I still have my issue too.
You sure captured the right look for a '55 post (both of them). I'd like to see more photos please. Tom
Well said. I also prefer my old small blocks (265/283) to look like old small blocks. Modified Power Pak heads are a good choice. Manley may list...
We ran a lot of L79 cams in 283s back in the day. They do perform well but they don't really come on until 3000 rpm. They aren't as sluggish below...
Hey Wally, I didn't know that you were on here. Do you remember this '63 (from an earlier post in this thread) that was owned and driven by Ron...
I remember them and used to get their catalogs when I was much younger. My paper route only allowed me an AMT budget though. Tom
They sold those quad headlight conversion kits in J.C. Whitney. I remember them well. Tom
How's this one coming along? Tom
I had the same problem back in the '80s and quit painting for several years. The last few jobs that I have done didn't seem to bother me as much...
Lots of work but well worth it. Tom
That is a great barn find.
I like the red with scallops. It just seems to go with the period of the build. Tom
As far as I'm concerned you nailed the look perfectly. Now it's time to drive and enjoy. Tom
My '69 stepside, '59 Vette and my wife's '81 Vette she bought new. Tom
You can do a lot to change them but not much to improve them. Here's mine in 1965 with a '55 small block, lowered and decked. Tom
Here is Metropolitan convertible I shot at Scottsdale last Saturday,
Smokey Ram setting on my truck's 355. Just thinking. Put on an Offy 360 instead. Keeping the Smokey Ram for something special. Tom
I was on a Mercedes plant tour in Stuttgart in 1970 and saw a guy doing the same thing. Must be an industry standard.
This Texaco star is almost weathered away.
Inspiring to say the least.
How about an Auburn dash in it's natural habitat. Check out the mechanical tach above the steering wheel in this Auburn 12. Tom
Two I took Sunday.
Does anyone know what year this Motorama photo is from? Tom
Going to have to beef up the frame a lot to put a hot flatty in it.
It just keeps getting better.
Welcome aboard. That '53 Olds is the same color as the one I learned to drive in. Ours was a 2 door post though. The pic labeled '59 Caddy is a...
Here's a few pictures I got from Wally of his cars in the mid '60s. I like the one with the SWC Willys in the background.
Now I've heard of everything.
