you will need to notch it, when i did mine i put some 2x1 box inside the rails, then put some 1/4 wall tube in the notched part, and then boxed...

iv taken the front cross member out on my 56 truck and my 58 burb,(there the same chassis) iv replaced that with some box section then welded in...
the fittings are fairly standard non metric, why not use jag flexy hoses? the standard jag cylinder is 15/16 bore, you will need the double servo...

in a word no, shocks are not made to hold a car up, you will need air bags,
jag is the same stud pattern as chevy, i would think it would be easier to get new wheels than change the stud pattern

i assume you are using xj6? the front calipers are 4 pot, jag m/c measure's 15/16 inch bore, the steering i have used a jag uj welded to a bar...
iv got a 58 suburban if you look on rodsnsods you will see it in the garage section, should be finished this year, just finishing reassembly did...
some cool stuff, not to many burbs in the uk i think there s only three 58 chevy burbs and one off those is mine, ill try and get some pics put up:)
