I lean towards to much pressure. My F100 book says 7psi. Most forum threads say closer to 4psi. The pressure regualtor might be the way to go.
The last cross member is for holding up the spare tire underneath the bed.
Most likely it is a 223. The casting number is on the front corner on the drivers side. You could cross reference the number to be sure.
