Yep mine was the same , so i cut the inner fender horizontal and added 4" im running 6.70/15 stones (the only choise)and i can lay frame if i want...

Im doing the same swap in my 46 tudor and im using a 77 nova rearend , hung on pararell leafspring from a volvo 360, they are short enuff to fit...
my 53,it was a4 dr with alot of rust and crap , im building it in a early 50s style, carsontop lowered no skirts and yes airbags in back,a huge...
