no no no... backlash doesn't cause any noise other then a minor clunk... you've set your pinion depth wrong therefore your gear pattern is...
It's a bad pilot bearing, nothing else. no clutch adjustment needed to solve that problem. man up, pull the trans. replace the five dollar...

Drill the holes through the bottom of your rails and use rivots to mount the brackets

in 41 the right door lock was in the handle, in 42 the moved it down below the handle
acording to stovebolt.com and other sites the cab is definitly a 42-46
are you positive? bc i'm not... the motor and mounts didnt look like there was any fabrication or custom install of a six it looked factory....

after checking that web site... the truck is probably 42-46 the right outside door lock is below the handle.
The Firewall has the "Xs" stamped into it so that means its a 41 and newer cab. the dash is rounded with a square gauge cluster.

Hot rods, customs, muscle cars, oval windowed VW's, Pre-runners, if it's got wheels... isn't stock and has some good style... chances are i like it.
im not sure what exactly you're building here... but if youd like you can have all the parts off my 41/46 chevy truck it too had manual brakes....
