Old post but just for info. Acetylene bottles give of about 10% of their capacity per hour safely. That little bottle pictured has ben the...
Building a '29 s/c myself. Like your progress!
Welcome! Like to see some pictures of how you built your tank (my next project).
I know this is about a month old but..... Wiring for the pump and sending unit for the gauge is pretty straight forward. Find a schematic for...
Was working for a drive line shop when I found my 8.8 (99 Explorer). Pinion bearings had failed and wiped out the housing. Bone yard send a...
TAPSs is the one song that brings tears to my eyes everytime, especially when the echo is used. TAPS means we are honoring a servant. My dad did...
It'll put me on the wrong list, but I love it. Building mine a bit out of the "traditional" as well.
Linkage like this? Auto or manual?
Do you have any linkage? Does the manifold have a boss to mount factory linkage to? Speed shops will have universal cables, some are carb base...
A little oil goes a long way. Even on systems that get flushed with ERF, oil tends to come back.
Great! As it was mentioned earlier, double check your vacuum advance port. It sounds as if you had the dist vac can hooked to manifold vacuum....
Sure does look like the oil stayed on the inside! Bore and stroke are the only ways I know on the FE's.
Basically stock.... Vacuum secondary 500-650 CFM Holley 4160, Carter AFB (Weber-Edelbrock). 302 needs only about 500 CFM at like 7000 RPMs. A...
Do you still have a choke plate on the carb? Try closing it off some to restrict air (fatten up the mix) and see what that does for the cough....
I kind of agree with the RPM drop is kind of extreme. To me a car in gear that idles about 650 should only climb to 700-750. Timing can be huge...
Don't know Q-jets that well. Can you check fuel bowl level, is it set right?
So steady throttle in gear (moving) the engine runs ok, but to accelerate you get the cough and belch? What kind of carb? Can you see the...
What is the idle speed in neural and in drive? Timing will/may change a bit as the r's drop. Is the coughing when you try to accelerate in drive...
I guess I'd have to ask, how big and heavy of a COE? Will it do any hauling/pulling? IRS may be a weak link in the weight department.
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=169265 This was the gold mine for me. Yes it took some lookin', but there is a ton of info...
Thanks for the thread. It was what I was looking for too.
There are some great tech threads on here if you do a little searching. I learned that the input shaft length dictates which bellhousing. Early...
Out of This World? 1970-73 we were stationed just outside of Pearl Harbor (tough life). One day dad took us to the harbor and in the hanger...
I earned every ticket I ever received. I deserved plenty of tickets that I didn't get. I know and grew up with law enforcement (dad ran combat...
If it's still in a full size car, you can expect about mid teens for milage, if it is just being cruised. Took my 440 70 Charger cross county a...
Have you tried turning the engine over by hand? If it spins, great. Can the oil pump be turned with the distributor out? I would spin the pump and...
Welcome from another new guy.
This has been a great read! As long as there is welding/cutting/grinding sparks...Long live the fire dance!
Wild guess, but I think it's a driver side motor mount issue. It happened to me way back when. The engine rocks over and stretches the carb...
Try Denver Radiator 58th and I-25.
