So far from being the same car in question ^^ :)
Look over your grounds. Try grounding the distributor at one of the mounting bolts. Or just go back to points. :)
Is this a new build? New pertronix unit to an already road proven vehicle? How’s the charging system?
Try completely removing the thermostats and see if any change.
I only use NOS regulators. There are heaps for sale on eBay all the time. Atlas, Echlin, Standard and such. Less expensive than a new one too....

The simplest, but the most drive-you-nuts aspect of the Flathead!
You should Red Oxide primer it. Then sand through to black. Start a trend! [ATTACH]

It’s a bobber.
I’ve experienced a “ticking” noise coming from up front and it was the fiber cam gear on an 8ba. Replaced it with an aluminum one and all was good.
Put your point set back in. That’s all I got.
I’ve said this already; eliminating all that nonsense would be the best move. Just sayin.
Maybe take a look at the cap and rotor as well? My recommendation is to gas that Pertronix and set up a distributor with a quality point set and...
As the youth would say “send it”
Ah yes, these have 3 terminals, yes? Battery “Gage” and coil.
Gage is hot “in”which should be from ammeter. Coil is just that, power to coil or coils when switched on.
I welded some shims up in there. I think I used a couple inches of the ends of a leaf on each side.
