els, You can "convert" your C-1 to a Gasser (straight axle) without cutting anything...making it easily returnable to stock trim.
Not exactly a next door neighbor...he lives about 6 miles from me Enloe....

The car is a lot of fun loudbang but get 40-50 more Gassers together & the fun really ratchets up...

I think Fred & Ernie were racing at or around the same time so if Ernie still had his car in the late 80's that rules out both owning the same...
