If it's not a new carb you could have an accelerator pump issue, with the motor shut off crack the throttle and see how strong the fuel shoots out...
I am dealing with a similar problem, my car won't rev past 4500 under load but happily will if spinning the tyres, i'm going to mount a fuel...
