Dang, good to know! I know my carb manual says it has an internal filter, I think I'll just switch over to a large steel filter and mount it below...
Cool, I can pull one side and cap it then run another and see how it runs, I think it would be better to use the one on the carb because it seems...
Poly carb is plastic, right? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I thought the package said that it was some kind of polycarbonate blend or something like that, I might just get a regular 3/8 metal fuel filter...
So I took a video, I sprayed the vacuum lines and the intake / exhaust manifold around all the gaskets with carb cleaner, no revving or changes in...
The filter and hose have never even got warm, I was concerned about it at first and I check it every drive because it makes me nervous, but even...
Essentially, PCV valve in the back, routed to the "T" which is routed to the intake manifold and carb vacuum line, nobodies mentioned it before so...
The PCV valve is on the back of the valve cover, where the hose attaches, and the chrome thing is the only breather filter with the correct size...

Mine doesn't route to the air cleaner, carb, to a T that splits to the valve cover and intake manifold Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Stock distributor, and I'll check it out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
And the exhaust valve isn't stuck as far as I know, I'm just curious of it could have an effect, because it's different, most vehicles don't have...
I'm trying to find one, going through local parts channels and what not right now, but the PCV Valve was nasty when I pulled it so I'll be...
I'm also trying to figure out how to check between an open or closed emissions / vacuum system for which PCV valve I need, they look identical and...
How would I check the mechanical and vacuum advance? I could see that helping as shortening all the vacuum lines seemed to help tremendously...
Yes, is there somewhere I can buy new ones? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It doesn't appear to have gas in the oil, I shortened all the vacuum lines and it ran for a good few minutes with the same rev issues, up and down...

Good point, I know the base plate has gasket maker in addition to the gaskets, thanks for all the ideas! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
All the lines are brand new, those for my first places to check, but unless they cut them somewhere with a razor knife there's no leaks. Tomorrow...
I'll try and get to the truck in the morning and see what I can find Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There wasn't the last time I checked, are you thinking bad fuel pump? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm having an issue where I will idle, after about 30 seconds it revs up then slowly come back down, and then the engine stalls, upon restart, it...
Essentially I just want a rock solid reliable engine where I can build it (not going to "supe it up" or anything too special) and it will provide...
Okay, basically I just wanted to verify that if i went the route of the big block that I can drop it in and it would bolt up and be a simple swap....
They didn't have the big block option from what I've been told, that's where I was curious about the build threads.as I'm curious what...
Thank you, I hadn't thought about that point yet. do you know of any good build threads? It feels like there would be more clearance in an old...
