Looking at those pistons I'd guess the rings are 1/16 1/16 3/16. Pretty common back then.

On my '41 Merc the spring sits on top of the wishbone, a washer on top of the spring, then the castle nut and cotter pin.
If the shackle angles are correct at ride height it'll work just fine.
