The 2 1/4" pan was used prior to 1975. In the aftermarket, it may be really tough to know what you are getting before you measure it yourself....
I really hate that OS-34510-T gasket, it is "universal" for either side dipstick! The unused side just looks like a great place to develop a leak...
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/fel-1885 This is the gasket for pre 1975 sbc engines with the thin lip at the front. Now, with an aftermarket...
I have scuffed the chrome on the mounting surface with scotchbrite and then used the 1 piece felpro gasket with good results. Just another option.
Thanks Brother! I got the Rambler signed up for The HAMB drags this year! Probably see you there?
I don't know what is "correct", but I like the flow of the point up picture better!
I will be there. I live in Springfield.
I doubt that any "cheap" cast or hyper pistons are AMERICAN made anymore. I think that some good name forged pistons probably are. But a $700 -...
Good luck! I beat the snot out of a lot of hyper pistons (naturally aspired) back when they were cheap and AMERICAN made! If I remember correct,...
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/slp-h660cp40 This is a 2 relief piston that show a height of 1.675" when combined with your 5.7 rod and 327...
It is your build, but I would not assemble it with the pistons that far down in the hole. Fel-Pro makes a coated shim type head gasket that is...
I just checked that piston number. It shows a 1.654 deck height, when combined the the 327 crank and a 5.7 rod, you get 8.98". If you have not...
Once you get the short block together, check your deck clearance before just buying any head gasket that fits. You want to get a tight "quench...
Did the camshaft move out at all? If it did, I am guessing that 1 or more of the hung up lifters are intruding and causing interference.
Looks good! I have done a few rattle can jobs myself with similar results.
At the risk of insulting anyone, is it actually an inner spring or is it a flat wire damper? I have seen a lot of confusion on this issue over the...
Is the pickup tube welded to the oilpump? I have seen the relief plunger tack weld itself it place a time or two.
I think WildWilly68 pretty well summed it up. Except, my Rambler is a classic (it says so right on the fender)!!

Thanks for the welcome!
Thanks for the welcome and the tips! I'm at work so I only have a couple of pictures available. The 59 Edsel is a mild custom. I have had my...
I may have started on the wrong foot. I just mentioned the r.r. phrase in case anyone requested pictures of my pickup. I fully understand this...
I thought that I would introduce myself. I have been hot rodding and drag racing for many years. Currently I own a 1939 chevy pickup ( a bit on...
