One more thing. You may be getting wrinkles because the padding is thick on the sides. If you sand it down the wrinkles might smooth out.
Those wrinkles are workable.
Ha, I see now. You can use a hair drier to soften the vinyl a little before you tack it down. Just be careful not to burn it.
