No relation. Our first year at Indy was 1966.
Ops, I forgot about yours Tim, sorry! Guess we'll have to let the judges decide. ;)
The car was built to run a 4 speed which it ran for 4 years till NHRA said no. In '70 we ran a 3 speed then in '71 the last year a Glide. Got it...
[ATTACH] My partner and car owner at that race was Alan McMaster, I was the driver. We won our O/SA class with our '57 Chevy a far cry from D/SA...
Here's what I remember and what My rule books say about stock eliminator. Classes were determined by lbs. per H.P. To get that the advertised h.p....
Must be all that "Hoosier Horsepower" that did it. :)
I believe using the Glide prevented that stock left side axle from breakage. With a stick shift I don't believe you would have been so fortunate.
I have to ask why the Henry axle on the right side? The left axle is the one that usually breaks.
NHRA says powerpack heads 896, 520, 842 55.7cc.
Very true but you now have metal to metal contact with any movement of the front end with the serrations gone. The contact is between the shaft...
210 to Bel Air.
Due to the so called grille in the first picture of the Terrible Tangerine that picture must have been in 1967 or before. In 1968 and later NHRA...
You know I believe everything you say f.i.57 chevynut but I worked at a Chevy dealer from '59 to '65 and I never saw an automatic 220hp power pack...
Hear that John Mackey if you would have set the toe in correctly you could have set the NHRA National Record a half second lower than you did back...
The JGG2 tribute car was beautifully built in Texas by good friend Steve DeWoody. The build includes many original parts and pieces from the...
Our first year 1965 at Vargo Dragway I/S 220hp.
That's Indy and Joe was a Div. 1 racer from Connecticut that we lost way too soon. He was a nice guy and his cars always ran good.
We all miss the York gatherings, they were the best!
Englishtown 1971 our last year. It's in my garage and running better than ever. Here's a picture of it at Atco a few years ago. Same car 50 years...
Wow! All the stars from the west coast. The one I remember the most was Marv Ripes because he beat me in eliminations. I thought I could catch him...
I believe that was the 1969 SS Nationals 3 day meet at York. You got points for every round you won over the three day eliminators. Looks like we...
Tom Ordway vs Ken Gunning at the Tri Five Nationals. The Jenkins fan is our own personal Jr Stock photographer Tommy Laird.
I bet Jeff Kane wishes he still had that one.
In the other lane was the Ronca Brothers N/S '56 that put Buddy on the trailer as they were the N/S class winners at Indy in 1970.
I don't believe his head is under the car or in the wheel well.
All it takes is one disgruntled, stubborn NHRA tech guy to ruin what you've worked so hard to accomplish. It's been that way for years!
I see a few other pretty famous Div.1 Jr. Stockers in the background.
Hooker never paid us unless we won they just gave us a couple sets of headers as they did many others. I believe that's a Stahl and Associates...
In the running for the cover but I believe the best one was chosen. But, we almost made it.[ATTACH]
