Ok so I measured my block and it looks like 28". From the back of the block to the water pump mounting surface.
I can get a measurement in the morning. I replaced a 235, with a 258, and all I had to do was change motor mounts.

I had this problem as well, someone told me to replace my shocks so that's what I did. It actually worked so try the cheap and easy things first.
