The rods are fine if straight and undamaged. But for gods sake get rid of the original castle nuts. I use oem Chevy rod nuts.

I did wrong the belt line is just 2" wide at the cowl, not 4".
Check the starter shaft for 100% straightness, little bent----big problem.
