That's really great that you made that huge trip worth while. It truly is great to get help from friends on projects like these. I recently did a multiple carb hop up on my Bel Air six cylinder and the friends came out of the woodwork to help. It makes all the difference in the world. Of course we need more pics and some info on how the actual road trip went. How did the Ranchero run?

Great story, I try and explaing to my wife why I'd rather hang with car guys than the accountants/execs I work with. All the checkwriters will never know the tired satisfaction of working with friends you love and respect.

Besides life is far too short to not do something like this!

The coupe is really looking nice. I worked on it a bit last night. Camera is still busted so no new pictures for a while though. Maybe once I mock up the hoods.

The whole trip was great but I don't think I fully realized everything that was happening as I was there. Crazy how much stuff went on in that short time really.

Tuck summed it up nicely with Bob's generosity, and I'm truly grateful to Dan + the rest of the shop for allowing it to happen. I only wish I had pics taken with my own camera to add.

coming home and finding yourself slightly overwhelmed and grateful is just a sign of a great adventure and even better friends.

but more pics WOULD be nice...

Wow, sounds like a pretty wicked trip, the kind you never forget. My wife was peaking over my shoulder as I looked through the pics and she said, "Hey I remember that place" It's probably been 4 or 5 years since I dropped some parts off at Kevin's I think a set of deuce rails too.

Been watching the build, its looking pretty sweet!

It was a busy week for me as well and I regret not making it down to the

You know it's funny, I hear mean, pissed, evil, sinister, etc. Mark Ford took one look and was talking about taking another inch out of his coupe. haha. I think I have to start calling him "Grandpa Ford". :)

But the truth is the longer I look at my coupe the more tame it appears to me.

I really think it is evolving as lines are tweaked, gaps tightened, and cuts are welded and metal finished. The new roof-line did so much for it. And to be able to sit back and look at it as a single part rules.

It's so cool to see Bob stoked on his coupe too. Just sitting and talking about the "no excuses" school of building is fun and that 3W is going to rule when it's done.

Anyway, coming back from Austin the fire is really lit for this thing. I made panels for the bottom of the windshield area and welded them in today. They turned out perfect. Straightening out the edge of the cowl. All welded and metal finished as I go. So this is it - I'm starting at the front and working back finishing everything with each part before I move on.

I just read the whole thread backside to frontside. What a great tale!! I live for moments with good friends thrashin' on junk.

Would this be a bad time to point out that Minnesota is not actually a part of Canada? Or has Tuck been feeding you Southerners bad information?

I'm from Kanada... with a K which is Minnesota. haha...
Canada with a C sounds the same and is easily confused...
We both have maple trees and Moose and lots of cold weather...

  29. That picture and the story brought tears to my eyes.

You have to understand that way back in 1999 my brother Travis and I started talking about re-creating the GizzleHopper and the 59 Ranchero we had as a tow truck back then. We used to haul the G-Hopper around on a single axel trailer all over Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and California pulled by that trusty Ranchero.

Well, as most of you know, the G-Hopper is complete. The Ranchero is now about 95% complete and I hope to have both at MOKAN this year. What memories,,,,,
