Is it nailed to the wood post on both sides of the cover? Or welded to the quarter and only nailed on the inside at each tab? I am eliminating the middle hinge as you can see in the wood.

Mine is held on by the hinges. Came from Brookville that way. I didn't feel the need to add nails (neither did Brookville). The quarter is nailed to the wood though in the lip, which gets covered.

Why would you eliminate the middle hinge? It's a large, rather heavy door, and gets heavier with the gl*** fitted.

The middle hinge disrupts the body line, especially on a radical rolling bones chop.

thanks for the information. I had no idea the quarter was nailed to the wood post.

The nailing continues along the edge above the door opening, basically anywhere sheet metal meets wood!

I've seen the upper hinge being eliminated in a big chop, possibly as it's kinda tricky to get it back in with all the movements caused by the chop. Not seen the middle hinge not being there, but then again I've never really looked! Details, details!

One thing we did on my chopped Henry deuce 3 window was took a piece of 1/4 inch cold roll round with a turn buckle in the center that goes down from the top hinge back to the rear inside the trunk panel. The purpose of this is to keep tension on the heavy door and in the event the door would ever sag you just remove the trunk panel and give the turn buckle a turn to bring the door back into alignment. My chop is only 2.5 inches.
