What does the steering column lock actual lock? The steering wheel or the ignition toggle switch? 218456E2-5E81-4768-A06C-B821AC6F1E64.jpeg

There is a Pin that drops into a groove /hole on steering shaft ,
    wheels /shaft in straight position.
All so lock power On/Off switch..
So it locks the shaft & switch

Wow. Locking steering wheel 100 years ago. Thanks for the information. I’m learning more about 32 fords all the time.

If you turn the key to Lock , & steering not straight ( only one hole spot) it will still lock the On / Off switch , So if some one was to try to push & steer , when wheel straight then it will lock steering shaft ,
I think in my roadster I have a 38-39 drop , it will lock the same .

During restoration of my former boss's 1919 Cadillac, I noted a keyed switch near the shifter
that prevents the car being shifted into gear.
