I’m building a 1932-3w. I moved the radiator out 2” and using a 1947 flathead. My question is how close should the fan be to the radiator and what diameter? I have a 2” gap and an 18” fan. I think I heed a 16” fan and maybe a 1” gap?
a few Q's & A's first... how did you move the rad. and the hood still fits??? secound... if it will swing the 18 i'd leave it.... third... the fan only needs to work at idle and slow speeds...with your power it will spend most of the time at slow speeds and you will need the cooling.... as close to the rad. is better but... still puzzles me why you moved the rad forward to have the fan so far back... most guys have the opposite problem...
this pic it look fine to me... after it runs, you might have to do a shroud....just do a towel test...
The radiator was moved forward so the grill shell clears the front axle. The axle was moved forward 4” to lower the front suicide style. The hood is custom made one piece 2” longer.
