A couple of photos of the modifications to the windshield frame. Took a three inch chop out of the original windshield frame. Took the three inches out of the approximate center of the sides in order to maintain what I thought an appropriate contour.
Pivots then ended up in the wrong location, had to move those upward a couple of inches in order to make it all work and have reasonable proportions in the support stanchions. Because the pivots were moved to a new location on the side frames they were now at a slight angle and had to be modified to be in an exactly horizontal plane so the windshield would pivot correctly.
Tig welded the frame back together which was more than a little disconcerting as my tig skills are mediocre at best, especially on thin stock and I didn’t have access to a replacement windshield frame.
After a good bit of work with a file, the welds came out mostly acceptable. Still have a bunch of unnecessary perforations in the windshield frame, I’ll havta build up the nerve to go after those with the tig as well.
The last photo shows the frame between the original lower stanchions which are the only part of those that came with the car, thankful I had those, would have been a much more difficult project without.
