IMG_8309.jpeg Hey guys I’m adding an original gm factory PS to my 63 impala. I got a double groove pulley for the ps pump that fits on the bottom. When I installed it and started the car I heard a noise. I checked the newly installed pulley and the gap is so close to the top pulley that a piece of paper will slide in but not a piece of paper towel tube. This is my 2nd pulley that I bought which doesn’t seem to be correct one. It’s a 63’ v8 SBC 327 non a/c. Any help is greatly appreciated

Had that problem once with a big block Chevy. Was able to loosen the water pump bolts and move it up and retighten. just enough for clearance between the pullies

the normal stock PS setup does not use a double pulley, it uses another pulley bolted to the single pulley, but there's a big gap between the two.

The double pulley you have is for AC.

Okay I’ve got the single pulley . I just bolt another single to it or what?

That's how the original power steering setup is. I don't know what pump/brackets you have?

this is what the pulley looks like.

The two large holes should fit over the two raised areas on the original single lower pulley, they "lock" together.

Okay that makes sense now. So my next question is : the pump is from a ‘60 . I don’t have the bracket yet. If I have to I’ll buy whatever is necessary to make this all work.

So got that add on pulley and it worked. I wish I had the same advice from chevytalk and facebook because I wouldn’t have wasted $75 on the wrong pulleys. Thanks for your help.
