05 06 revisted

    Around the middle of Jan 05 as I remember all us old dogs were sitting around BOB HINDMANS shop telling lies when Mike San Miguel came in with this sheet of paper with these guidelines on it for building a late 40s early 50s style rail . First Mike had to explain to us what the HAMB was .Well it was discussed what engine ,******,so on and soforth.Amazedly we agreed to build it and we didnt know if the track would let us run . Damn the torpedos full speed ahead .We ended up with a tired 235 chevy 8 inch ford rear end early ford front end a pair early ford wire wheels but no ****** .all the 4 speeds we found were either too much or junk. Enter Dave Lewis [ THE RED BARON ] he came by the shop and said he had a powerglide he had taken out of his g***er about 3 years before and it was sliping bad when he took it out. It was ours if we wanted it .well all it too fix it was clucthes ,seals and clucth drum .We paid for the parts ,labor and drum were donated. About 4 weeks in to the build diaster struck .BOB came in from a DRs appointment he had prostate cancer he was told he had only one thing going for him and that was that his other health was good .They started radiation/chemo the next week .he lost about 60 pounds in very short time .we contiued to work onthe car ,we fired it up 5weeks later.About this time we found there were other crazy people near by in ow***o building a car that would be the ramrods. I almost forgot BOB was declared cancer free earlier this year. Well took it for the first test /tune and ran blistering 16.71 /76mph ramrods high15s Ithink .By the third T/T we had killed the stock 235.We had found a 261 itneeded rings and bearing/valve job to be contiued
