WOW, this thread got pretty big... I like it.
A buddy of mine said years ago there was a book. He called it the little black book of Chevy small blocks. It made mention of the 56 077 cam and the fact there could be different color motors for different applications. But sadly, he hasn't seem his copy in years. Gene.

 

An aftermarket copy of the '56 240 horsepower cam I picked up at a swap meet.

 

Nice find! If you get a chance mic the intake and exhaust lobes so it can be compared to the ‘097.

 

I will when it cools off a bit. The attic of the garage was about 120 degrees tonight!
