If I had 1,000 that I didn't earn I would buy something I didn't need but wanted. How about some fancy chrome like the garnish moldings on my 51 Merc and plating my column. There are way more immediate things I need but it's free money!

If I had to spend it today, there are 2 cars that I would love to have that $1k would put them in the realm of possibility...a 52 Dodge 2dr sedan, and a 62 Rambler Classic 2dr.

The Rambler is the most complete and the best condition, but the farthest away....shipping may put it out of reach. I guess I'd go with the Dodge, and start looking for a 230 with a PowerFlite.

If I could pocket the money, I'd probably hold out for a Studebaker.

Geez, a grand huh? So many things...

This will sound nuts to most of you guys, but I'd probably use the money to have someone teach me how to rebuild my transmission and engine (and I mean rebuild them in the process). They both work fine, but getting to be high mileage. It'd be nice to have something reliable and be able to learn from it.

I dunno, that or the 1000 other little things I need.

  7. there wouldn't be much left after the California taxes, but I could put a down payment on a tank of gas.

  8. Spend it on the wife... The return on investment will pay off and she will let me spend twice that much next month.....
At least I would have one great month..

  9. on a real bad month it is 4Xthat for parts
most of my cars get real expensive by the time they are done and all start out as a used car, but just need a few updates:eek:

and i have always liked chrome and fined aluminum:D really strokes my crank

I'd add it to the kitty I've been building (slowly) for another project. Unfortunately I had to sell my '51 F1 in November but I WILL find something else.

A new Burlington Crank for the A. Already have a new Stipe cam and BF head. Will be looking for a downdraft manifold in the future for LZ 94 carb. But first to pay medical bill that are piled up and find permanent employment. Project is on the back burner for the forseeable future. Rod

I dont have to hide it from the missus, she eggs me on to buy tools or stuff for my builds.:D

We're in that situation now and are chasing a new parts hauler so the o/t daily drive can get some new paint and a few mods before the desoto gets the full custom treatment.

grab your significant other, jump in the car and go for a road trip. You will enjoy the car more and many more will wave & talk to you in gas stations along the way. I went through the 6 Western States in 19 days and just met a great bunch of people. Ya never know who will come up to you with a story. Now get travelling.

One of those metal roofed carports that are for sale for under 1000 at a dozen places around here. That and a cement slab would give me a decent place to work.

  27. a lathe big enough to do my own driveshafts  oh yeah and wire power to the shop to run it
