I wanted to share a 1/64 diorama of a scrap yard I built years back. After showing pics of it on the interent and the response from others that customize 1/64, I got hooked on the hobby. Recently I had a contest where I sent out castings I wanted to be customized to look like what you would find at on old scrap yard and here is what everyone came up with. The details are sick and it goes to so with some imagination, anything is possible.

the rust on the VW is very convincing. Did you do it with rust coloured paint, or did you leave it out in the kid's back yard for a few years?

  14. Thats really neat.My 6 year old son has his own hot wheels boneyard. They are just broken cars though.

I used to try to make damaged cars when I was a kid, using a hammer, or the vise..
They never turned out right. Looks like you heated them up??

Man that's cool as hell. looks like the real thing, now you just need some nasty puddles, 4 old cranes piled up to the doors with scrap(but some how they still move), and a couple greasy old guys. Then it would be just like my local scrap yard. oh and it needs a meth head getting arrested with a van full of copper wire and pipe that was stripped from a housing development.
Oh how'd you do the rust on that stuff?

Meth , you're a sick puppy. I like the little tidbits laying around the yard like they fell off the cars too. You've got an imagination.

For sale? NEVER. I'll check and see if I have an shoebox parts. LOL
Rust is done in different ways, they is kits you can buy at a hobby store, or flat colored paints. I use a type of powder that gives a neat effect. Not sure what they used with these entries. Not sure the size cause I never measured, but it fits in my display case that is over my Big Screen TV.
