Good luck with the AV Motorplex project Moldy... These things usually do take a long time to get up and running.. The guys behind our local track (drag strip and speedway complex) are trying to get one underway in another state now, and it's taken several years and lots of $$$ invested to get to where they are now... Which is still a long way away from turning soil over..

  2. hey Moldy, i miss LACR alot. me and my friends used to go out there all the time. i hope you can get something going, but to be honest, i wouldnt go it if were 1/8th mile. if it were 1/4 mile i wouldnt mind spending 40-60 dollars to run my car.

Back when they were still in the *talking about it* phase of the new fair grounds I asked one of the head guys involved if they were going to build a dirt mile for the flat trackers..
    Lancaster city response:
    "We don't have enough room"

    WTF???????????

Keep it up Moldy. I'll come out to race...my son will too as well as the wife. I don't care what time of year it is either...my car runs just as good in 100 degree weather.

  5. Being in the OC I would not venture to the high desert for an 1/8 mile track. I can already go to Irwindale and Fontana, both much closer.
1/4 mile maybe, especially if there were some Hot Rod or Antique specialty races.

Moldy, I gotta say first that I miss LACR.

That given, us HA/GR folks down here go all the way up to Fresno for Rocky's Eagle Field meets (1/8, flag start, eyeball finish, runway racing). We'd certainly go to an AV 1/8 or 1000' if we can run our class (even sooner if we can run it flag/flashlight & eyeball :D).

I don't know if a few of us putting on a show of 1950 style "rail job" racing would be of any help but if you think it would perhaps we could put that together as well (some of the Fresno boys might be interested too).
Give me a yell if you want.

I drove my 29 roadster out to willow springs last Friday. I guess they changed the days to Friday nights now ( not every Friday ). Anyway, was excited to run the 29 got through tech, then they called me back and said I couldn't run because I had no roll bar! I pleeded my case telling them I've ran at famosa (Dragfest) and at Barona (king of clubs). I guess that didn't matter. They refunded my $20 and said their insurance didn't allow them. I was bummed to say the least. My buddie ran his 30 pick up but found out the track is not a 1/8. It's a 1000 ft with a slight up hill. The wind sucked that day but I'm sure a nice night you might have a goodtime. You can get as many runs as you want and line up against anyone. I guess I have to take my 55 next time but just wished they could work something out with running open cars. They didn't advertise that fact anywhere. Lucky I only live a hour away.
