First time visit to any shop is special, and I remember every one, but Old Crow was one of a kind, even had 1940's music playing, total time warp. Unless something special happens it looks like LARS isn't going to happen this year for me, see you in 2018. Bob

Yup, we are still getting settled, but work has resumed. We had our first official tour in the new shop last week, a group from the Netherlands I think.

Anyway, here is our new address for anyone interested.

    Hello,

From LAX, take the Coast Highwy Route 1 through Marina Del Rey and follow it into Santa Monica via Venice. From there, all along the Coast Highway 1 will be one of the most beautiful drives in all of So Cal. If you leave early, around 9am, after the morning rush hour, there should be fewer cars on the road. Keep your eyes on the road as it curves and only a double yellow separates you from the oncoming traffic.

But, the sights and serenity make up for all of that crowded LA area. Continue on until you come around the big bend rock into the Oxnard/Camarillo area. Now, your choice is… Do I continue on this beautiful coastal drive into Santa Barbara or do I go back to Burbank via the 101 and 118 freeways and see Hollywood Hot Rods? There is plenty of time to do both in one long loop and you will see the best of So Cal, cool and hot.

We have driven this route a zillion times (up and back from Santa Barbara on Coast Highway 1 in all sorts of hot rods, vans, wagons, and cruisers…) and it never gets old. We prefer the coastal route to going back and forth from Santa Barbara over the inland freeway route. It takes a little longer on the coast, but what price is beauty and serenity? (going back south on Coast Highway 1 has some danger to the road. Not only will you have to keep aware of the oncoming traffic, but now, the rocky coastline is just inches from your right side, tire tracks.)

Here is a preview of a current song that will stay in your brain once you see and hear it. Now, you can see and drive the actual coastline.

How good is the Thursday night race in Irwindale? Is it new stuff or is there A nice mix from the 50-60-70 era too? I'll be there in late October and thought about running over. I'll be about an hour away.

The Thursday night show at Irwindale Speedway is all drag racing, and, they have now added Friday night drag racing as well through the end of the year. Full disclosure, I've never seen the drag show but to have 2 nights it's must be good. The Saturday night show is NASCAR oval track racing. As many as 5 divisions could race during the night. The oval track racing is great!

So you're flying into LA and have a few hours ( between flights ? ) . To try and leave LAX , go visit whatever it is you decide on and get back to your flight thru LA traffic and going thru all of the check-in and TSA screening is probably not going to happen . Best bet would be to schedule a day or two layover so you don't put yourself in a bad situation . Good luck .
