I've seen lot's of discussion on Lincoln brakes and using modified Ford spindles to mount them on a Ford axle. However, I'm wondering why guys don't just run the Lincoln spindles with thick bushings in them so they can use a Ford King Pin. Is this too simple or am I missing something here? The reason I ask is I've got Lincoln fronts but when mounting them on the Ford spindle the bearing surface stands off the square mounting plate further than the Lincoln spindle. Then when you put them on the Ford spindle the drum does not seat into the groove around the backing plate to keep foreign objects out. Leaves a 1/16 inch gap.

All Sound advice is greatly appreciated.

    The kingpin inclination is different.

So if you still have to drop your FORD axle you could take this into account. Then you could use the Lincoln spindles.

I know that the Lincoln stuff has been on here several times, but no one addresses the fact that the thickness of the Ford spindle keeps the drum from seating in the groove of the backing plate. This will allow water/stones/**** into the brakes.
